Onitsuka Tiger developed new football boots for the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo, and at the Mexico Olympics in '68, Japan won a bronze medal wearing Onitsuka Tiger boots. This national success helped kick start the football boot boom in Japan. By 1972, Onitsuka Tiger had developed an innovative manufacturing process call 'Direct Injection'. This proved very successful as it greatly improved the durability and stability of football boots. Many high profile Japanese and international players began wearing the boots, which greatly assisted their popularity. Onitsuka Tiger is introducing the Injector DX, a stud-free street shoe based on the classic football boot from 1972.
